The 7 Albums To Define You

Allie X - CollXtion I

CXI is so wholesome and I think it represents my outlook on life, particularly after coming out. It has themes of letting go of past demons (Tumor), being a hopeless romantic (Sanctuary), and marching to the beat of your own drum (Bitch).

Ängie - Suicidal Since 1995

Despite the jarring title and cover art this EP is has nothing to do with dark subjects, it is mostly about fucking around and dreaming of recreational things. It also has themes of sort of owning up the world and recognizing you are in control of this life, but almost at a superficial level. I'm superficial about some things to a fault but I still feel like a level headed person so this EP really speaks to me for some reason.

Music From Baz Luhrmann's Film The Great Gatsby

An unorthodox choice but I have to include this because not only do plenty of the songs mean so much to me (Young and Beautiful, Together, Over The Love) but the movie does too. I think this speaks to a desire to be loved which I will probably always carry with me.

ionnalee - REMEMBER THE FUTURE

This album is about moving forward and taking care of yourself. Particularly the opening track, 'OPEN SEA' -- while many of this artist's tracks are left to interpretation, to me it sounds like this song is about someone getting over a depression and that message carried on to the rest of the album is so perfect for me.

Kitty - FROSTBITE

Kitty is so sassy here, I love that this EP is about pointing out all the bullshit in the world and making the most of it anyway. I think it's important to me in a weird way.

K.Flay - Every Where Is Some Where

My favorite thing about this album is the theme of trying to grow up and being a little unsure who you are despite having so much shit happen to you. It also talks about thinking too hard about your public image and what people think about you which I think accurately translates to the anxiety I feel about certain things.

Honestly, I can't really think of one more album that helps describe me. I haven't been through any nasty break ups to merit putting Melodrama or anything like that.
