I hadn’t considered that news companies can, and probably do, pay people (next to nothing) to just monitor and shape how their stories are coming off across the web. I have noticed news media started to deteriorate when Fox News went ahead and just took a side and raked in the cash. Obviously others followed suit and news and entertainment became interwoven. Then trump happened, and every single news source dropped all attempts at being non-partisan. They all took a side. Add to that no one wants to pay for actual journalism, and all we get now is opinion. (Try posting a link to a story with a paywall, first comment will bitch about it and the second will usually provide a non-paywalled link. Effectively stealing someone’s work). We get the media/government we deserve.
