The point I always make is that defunding would not have saved George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Michael Brown, or others.

This is also how I feel about the calls to "demilitarize" aka don't let police have riot gear, AR-15s, or "tanks" (unarmed armored vehicles but whatever).

None of these innocent black victims was killed by a tank, or even a rifle for that matter. They are either shot with a standard sidearm, or very frequently are just choked to death. You're crowing about something that has literally never caused a problem for anyone, just because it looks scary to you.

And I am NOT a pro-gun guy - quite the opposite. But if Americans are going to have assault rifles, its kind of a no brainer that police will need them too, and I can't blame them for wanting to sit in vehicles that can stop bullets aimed at them (the horror!)
