79 Year Old Lyft Driver Murdered in His Car

I drove at 4am once. No problem with the passenger. A girl getting off her late shift at an upscale downtown restaurant. She and some fellow staff had some drinks as they closed/cleaned up for the night, hence the late ride. As we're making our way through downtown, down the avenue that leads to the freeway, we see a patch ahead of us of slowly rising smoke, flashing blue and red police lights, and headlights shining in unnatural directions. As we get closer, I see a nice new blue Mustang, half on the sidewalk, half on the street, smoke coming from the tires and the damaged front end. I also see a racer looking Honda crashed into the back of a parked car. A police car with flashing red and blues was also on the scene, looking like it was parked quickly. All three cars empty, some doors hung wide open.

We carefully weave our way through the smokey, chaotic scene and a mile later get to the freeway. The passenger and I were talking about what an eerie, creepy scene that we'd just passed through, but then discussion turned back to the restaurant where she worked.

A minute later and I got on the interchange to take us northbound from the eastbound freeway we were on. A somewhat sharp, long left curve. Up about 30 feet ahead, my headlights and brain pick up on something moving in the road. I asked "What's that??". The conversation stops and we are both leaning in and squinting, trying to figure out what we're looking at. As we get closer, I realize that I was looking at the back of a couple of human legs and this is a person walking right up the middle of a freeway interchange. I tap my horn to give a couple small honks, asking him to move over and let us pass. He moves to the left and we get closer to pass him. I can't help but notice his hands are restrained behind his back, no shining metal so these aren't cuffs. Maybe zipties. And he's wearing some apparatus on his upper body that looks like some kind of straight jacket.

Both our faces probably turned white at that point. After a few seconds of driving she asked if I thought she should call the police. I said "definitely". I don't drive at 4am anymore.
