8 week old mix (which I strongly believe is code for "pitbull") is a drama queen when it comes to the crate. Any tricks?

K, first off, you can drop the attitude. You can present information in a way that isn't snotty.

Secondly, I assume your reading comprehension skills are non existent considering the fact that I never once mentioned accidents during the day. I'm very aware that he needs to go out often. The two hour rule (at night, since apparently I have to explain that every time I mention the words "potty" and "training") was directly from my vet.

If you had bothered to read you would have seen that I had specifically mentioned that the only reason he went in the crate was because I had to go to a non pet friendly place. Do you make a habit of letting your puppies run wild while you're gone? Or do you just take a solid month or two off work and grocery shopping, and doctor visits, and everything else that could be a place your puppy shouldn't venture?

Did you miss the part where I said the crate is kept open at all times, loaded with cool toys and treats, and he has only been in it twice? He's been with us since Saturday morning, so venturing in a grand total of two times in 5 days is pretty damn slow. I'm not quite sure where you're getting that I'm rushing him...but again, reading comprehension is hard. I get it.

CrAtE tRaInInG tAkEs TiMe....no shit. I'm not asking why my puppy hasn't magically fallen in love with the crate on week one. I'm saying he's dramatic. And he IS dramatic in almost every aspect of life. He literally fell to the ground with a huff the other day because the cat jumped up on a counter and he couldn't see her. He's an adorable, dramatic little fucker and I love him for it. But we have to be able to figure out the crate thing.

Upon entering the crate, he darts right back out, and while he has sniffed at it, and I've tried to treat him (had you bothered to read you would have seen that he doesn't give a good fuck about treats, so now we're using toys instead, which he also doesn't seem to care about unless he's in the mood to care about it.) he for the most part seems to ignore or straight up avoid the crate. We have the sort that is open on both ends, and he still avoids going through even with a cool toy and a treat waiting on him on both ends. (Husbabd and I sit on opposite sides and try to coax him through. He just tries to go around.)

See? Look at all that shade I just threw at you. And now watch, as I magically transform from a total brat to a decent human being. (You should give it a shot sometime.)

We have found that he doesn't mind being put in something small and confined with an open overhead. So maybe we'll move to a small corral for now when leaving to go places. (Rare, but kids require doctor visits occasionally)

But this doesn't clear up the main issue which of course is that I can't even get his little butt into the crate so he can see how great it is. And I can't really lead him in there or offer treats if he doesn't give a damn about treats. He's got places to explore and things to do, and doesn't have time for a crate, apparently.

My question was not "how do I get my dog to love the crate instantly with no barking and whining" my question was "I can't even get him to look inside because he's dramatic about everything. How do I crate train if I can't even get him inside."

Anyway, have a nice day.
