9/11 is extremely overrated.

Death toll belies the severity of the attack...by luck btw it wasn't 30,000 killed. Our largest city...the "capital of the world" was brought to it's knees for months. Our military command center was shown to be vulnerable and but for the heroic sacrifice of everyday citizens our very government would have been decimated if not crippled. It was more than a bad day, it was an act of war. How many died at Pearl Harbor? Should we have shrugged our shoulders then too?

How old are you? I remember the day. I remember getting out of my car and walking into work...my boss passing by...I don't remember what he said...fear on his face...."planes hit the wtc"...he all but ran into the building.

Shock. Utter shock. I worked at a grocery store in Washington state. No customers. We stood there listening to to the news. The country stood still.

My wife was still asleep. Her father worked at the WTC. Employees begged to go home. The few customers we had were red eyed. Employees took turns contacting loved ones. I couldn't get a hold of wife...

I stood there in front of the register for 8 hours waiting on the few folk who absolutely needed to buy something. Listening to the news turned up in the store so we could all hear what was the news. Knowing when I got home I would have to wake my wife up and tell her her father was dead.

The whole country was in shock. We all have been traumatized as a people. to put a number on that...fuck you.
