You have answered your own point I think. You want the skills, and you know where to find them. What is lacking in people in general (not you in particular) is the desire to actually link up the two. My parents taught me nothing, so I know where you are coming from. I cook, fix my own car, motorcycle, plumbing etc. Not because I’m trained in all of these but because I go and hunt down how to do it properly. I’ll buy the correct tools and parts, and hey presto! It gets done. And it feels good to do it. My car hasn’t gone in to a garage for six years, although I do eat take out food! I’d encourage you to have a go. Fake it till you make it!
