9to5Mac: Apple’s decision to discontinue AirPort products is the wrong move at the wrong time

I am presuming the real issue from Apple’s bottom line decision is that the AirPorts last too long. Everyone who has one of these and knows how fucking good they are - fastest xboxbox speeds, torrenting, high bandwidth stuff always worked smoothly, very low drop outs, etc etc etc - and usually you still have the first one you bought. They last a long time, mine’s 6 years old and flawless, gf’s is older and I think that’s generally the case. So unlike laptops and phones and watches and iPads, you can’t really keep selling them every three to five years. That combined with their smaller market, they’re just not selling enough. My thoughts when I read this was “I’ll buy an extra”.

not a big deal. by the time you need a new one the new version of this combined with some homekit system or whatever will be out
