So for anybody who's confused, yes people hate banksy for becoming famous, (a sell out basically) And even before that he wasn't looked at to favorably because he mostly falls under the street art category and not graffiti yet he disrespected well know illegal writers like King Robbo adding even more reason to dislike him. Theres a certain aspect in graffiti (The illegal kind) thats anti government and anti trend culture both things that have accepted banksy as a legitimate graffiti artist, the problem is he technically isn't one he's a street artist, so it definitely comes off as trying to piggyback graff and get glory as a tagger even though he only uses stencils. So it's more or less of how he became famous not that he's famous in general, lots of people don't see him as a veteran of the streets like people such as revok and saber who although also became extremely famous and rich off graffiti nobody calls them a sell out due to the fact that they're seen as real taggers who do illegal graff on the streets and have earned the right to make their money. I honestly couldn't care less if you like him or not, but i personally just see him as a very talented artist, not exactly as one of us you know?
