AAMC article about the broken M3 grades, places moving to P/F, etc [serious]

My solution was to standardize year 3 clerkship shelf exams, which puts less weight on STEP. Also, to submit clinical and shelf scores separately to residency programs. Not sure why schools feel like they need to combine them into a super score and have residency programs try to interpret our performance from it.

Im not sure if P/F is the best answer to this, but it is better than the unstandardized honors/high pass/pass/fail distributions that programs have now. Some schools give out mostly honors or some only have pass/fail now. I've talked to a residency director at my hospital and she told me although they get the distribution of grades they don't have time to really look at that when screening applicants.
