Ableism in Acting

My biggest question for your arguement is this:

If actor 1 is more talented than actor 2, but actor 2 is disabled in a not directly apparent way, who should get the role? It seems pretty obvious that actor 1 should get the role regardless. Studios are not designed to be bastions of good faith and hand outs, they are there to make money. Why should they take a financial risk by hiring someone who is less talented just because it would make a few people happy but ultimately lose money?

I don't believe that this is an issue for acting to even take into account. This is a problem that needs to be addressed on a societal level. Unless you're casting for an overtly visible disability or race you should be hiring the best of the best to represent that group.
