Aboriginal leader Jacinta Price: 'Changing the date of Australia Day is pointless.'

You are just talking blind nationalism there. Would you force people to celebrate Australia? Would you force people to agree on your idea that Australia is somehow a different paradigm?

Would you punish those who don't show enough gratitude according to some gratitude standard?

We're a country run by an American Media Oligarch, that has done some woeful human rights abuses since 2013, but you'd have us all sitting around playing backyard cricket and drinking beer and eating lamb chops on a different date so that we can't associate Australia with the first fleet event and genocide of Aboriginal tribes?

I'm not that invested in it either way, because it's all busllshit. Australia day is actually less bullshit than ANAC day. ANZAC day being a day when right wing war mongers, taking a break from cutting welfare to veterans, and salute dead soldier.

Should we have Armistice day on a more friendly/less violent day, that dissociates from actual war because right wing war mongers prefer a sanitised version of history?

Australian history is fucked up, brutal and dark, I'm sorry if it makes it hard to celebrate.
