UNPOPULAR OPINION- IVF IS WORSE THAN ABORTION.

I am pro-life. That is to say I believe life begins at conception. Yet I somewhat understand why people get abortions. Oftentimes women do not wish to undergo the stress associated with pregnancy. Additionally these women believe that personhood should not be granted to the fetus they are choosing to abort for a wide variety of reasons. Consequently they get an abortion. Does this make them immortal perhaps it does though I also admit I cannot say with 100% certainty that they are committing murder. Personally, on an intellectual level abortion saddens me yet on an emotional level I do not feel intense hatred towards those obtaining an abortion.

However, the fact that IVF exists causes me great grief emotionally and intellectually. I have an adoptive sibling who I love dearly. Accordingly, I think that the true meaning of family and parenthood is that people desire to raise a child into a good and happy person. IVF seems to be entirely focused on conceiving a genetic offspring and I think this hyper focus on having a biological child is terrible because the true hallmark of a loving parental relationship is that as aforementioned one wants to raise child to be a happy, righteous and moral person. Ideally any child who a parent feels they have the capacity to raise should suit this purpose. But the people who use IVF seem a bit narcissistic to me because they just have to have a genetic child. Parental love is profound and beautiful and in my opinion such love is purest when it is truly unconditional. I think the ardent desire to have a genetic child subtly yet palpably attaches a condition to love. That condition of course being that the child is one’s genetic offspring or “blood” relative. Furthermore these people may very well be committing multiple murders to achieve this goal!!
