Abortion rates go down when countries make it legal: report

This is such a reasonable way to be pro life and I wish everyone who was against abortion was like this. I'm pro-choice but really similar to you in that I'd prefer if we eventually found a way to separate the two instead of just killing the fetus, but think abortion is the best alternative we have for now. I see fetuses more how most people see animals than how people see humans. Like okay to kill if you absolutely have to but I'd rather no one did.

The only thing I have issue with here is the "if they're a victim of a heinous crime" thing as I think that'd just lead to a lot of women (myself included if I ever got pregnant) lying about being raped in order to get an abortion. I think carrying any pregnancy you didn't want to full term would be damaging to your mental health and trying to get women to prove they're in this situation would be.. bad. Idk, I'm depressed and I've been to doctors about it before and imagining them trying to interrogate me about it because they don't believe me makes me sad. But you'd have to do it that way or all women would just claim that in order to have it done and that rule would become completely pointless. I live in NZ and that's basically how it works here. Technically you can only get an abortion if multiple doctors say it'd be bad for your mental health, but in reality you'd just have to tell doctors that and it'd be fine. Lots of people are trying to get that rule changed for that reason. The law doesn't really reflect the reality of the situation. I honestly think it's just there as a way to appease pro life groups while still having it legal.
