About to get my first rats

Yeah, I hear ya. When I get new fosters in, it always seems like health wise something is wrong. That girl I mentioned before has a bit of an upper respiratory infection going on at the moment that we are treating before she goes up for adoption, and a rabbit we got in is either really fat or pregnant, so we have to wait to spay her until 30 days holding trial is over. It sucks to get in not so ideal animals, but all the care and struggle is totally worth it in the end. Not to mention if you guy has to get medicine, he probably will love you for it. My rats have all loved their medicine and would look forward to it as their nightly treat haha. Apple juice is a great dilutant.

If he doesn't have it when he is laying down, that is good, but I would still worry, because I'm naturally paranoid haha It honeslty might be just his normal sounds - I have heard from multiple people that some rats have a higher talking pitch (not sure if it is true since I haven't looked into it much so tak emy word with a grain of salt), so you can hear them vocalize which normally you would need a bat sonar device to hear. I'm hoping the squeaking is just that, but it doesn't hurt to take him in for a general physical since you just got him anyway and have the vet give him the old once over.

Do you mean the balls? If so, yeah. The balls will get huge, especially with warmer weather coming up, but honestly, once you starting bonding with them, you barely notice. If you meant size wise, yes to that as well. Boys will get larger (usually) no matter what, regardless if they are neutered or not.

Those are good treats, though can be sugary, so don't give them too many haha Unsweetened cheerios, rice, or eggs make good treats as well. My boys love eggy rice. It's so hard to resist their little faces though, especially when they learn the sound of the treat bag, so good luck. My boys, I admit, are pretty chubby because I'm weak.
