About Nintendo and e3. What do you guys think?

Having followed E3 pretty closely since around 2002, I'd debate PS4's showing last year being the greatest ever. Full of surprises, yes, but The Last Guardian ended up reviewing merely as 'good' rather than as being in the same league as ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, and there are still a lot of unanswered questions around Shenmue 3 and Final Fantasy VII.

If that's your standard for great E3 shows, though, no, I don't think Nintendo will top it. They're less inclined to do the whole "give vague details of a game that's at least two years away from release" thing that a lot of other publishers do, and while I think there'll be a surprise or two, I'm not anticipating a ton of teasers for games for next year and I'm not expecting a ton of major announcements for this year, either, given that the first-party line-up for the year is already looking pretty robust.

I think there's a chance we'll see an announcement around Pikmin 4, a new Metroid Prime title, or a localisation of Mother 3, though. Pikmin 4 was mentioned by Miyamoto in 2015, and Metroid and Mother were hinted at by Reggie (I think his words a month or two ago were "speak to me again in a year" or something like that). If we're really lucky, we might even get two of the three, and any of those would be pretty fantastic announcements.

Beyond that, I could see the possibility of one or two other surprise announcements from Nintendo for the year, but I'd expect them to be lower tier titles (Nintendo aren't likely to want to distract from the already-announced Splatoon 2, Xenoblade 2 or Mario Odyssey). A WarioWare or some kind of party game might be a reasonable guess, or Nintendo could have been sitting on something from Kirby or something of a similar level of popularity. The popular guess of another Wii U port (Mario Maker or Smash, most likely) would also be reasonable guesses. You know, all solid stuff, but not generally the kind of things that create the kind of hype I think you're talking about.

That's okay, though. Very little of whatever is most hyped from E3 each year ends up being the stuff people put on end-of-year best lists. I'm sure I don't need to give you examples, there are so many of them.
