ABQ launching effort to address ‘broken’ criminal justice system

I’m actually surprised that it seems that city officials are finally listening to public feedback for a change. I worry that it may be a bit late for Keller’s administration though, because this was an issue that many people have brought to his attention numerous times over the years.

I’ll be honest that I still have some criticisms regarding this being a bit backwards in terms of needing more balance between “tough on crime,” and utilizing preventative strategies, but maybe this is the kind of cohesiveness - by LISTENING and understanding each department’s expertise/input as well as knowing what limitations or legal “handcuffs,” may hinder each of them (rather than finger pointing and throwing each other under the bus), is what will not only help mitigate crime here, especially amongst repeat offenders, but also help reduce some of the public’s ignorance of how the processes of each department differs and can sometimes clash.
