the absolute unit

As I said many times, I'm not disagreeing that the legs are the primary driver (I never once said they weren't). And if I were to teach someone to deadlift, I would tell them to focus on pushing the ground down rather than pulling with the back.

All I'm saying is the deadlift is used most typically to train your lower back. Deadlifts are simply incapable of properly training your legs, duo to the limiting factor of the lower back. And so it can only effectively be used as a lower back exercise.

And no I don't train deadlifts to failure. I'll get close maybe, but never to failure itself. And I have never injured myself with the exercise. Mainly because I'm smart about it. I only do heavy deadlifts once a week, and I give my back plenty of time to recover before doing another lower back intensive excercise (like back squats).

And once again, you're going on this strawman argument you created for yourself about me using my lower back as the "primary driver". I don't know how many times I have to reiterate this, but just because it's not the primary driver. Doesn't mean it doesn't get the most benefit from the exercise.
