Absurd ABA live course requirement

I understand your frustration, but law schools pre-Covid required you to be in class with only a few number of absences to retain the school’s accreditation.

By having mandatory online attendance, the ABA is helping to make sure you are receiving somewhat close to your expected value in tuition and that you get the opportunity to interact with your professors, ask questions, and learn from the questions your peers ask. You might learn the black letter law just as effectively from recordings, but the analytical framework you develop by actively listening, developing questions, and quickly voicing those questions before you move on to another topic would not be similar to me, but we all learn differently.

I’m truly sorry you are missing out on a live classroom experience. However, if you really believe online attendance is hindering your learning capabilities and potentially your health, well lawyers advocate for others, so you might consider being an advocate for yourself to your school and even the ABA about this requirement. It took a lot of effort and a concerted movement, but Resolution 10G showed the ABA will listen to our concerns, albeit a little late.
