Accepting a job below one’s skill level can adversely affect future employment prospects

Sometimes you cant find the right work in a certain job market, starting a business, moving to a new location. There are so many reasons to take a job that req's less skill.

Ex. In 2008 before uber, i was looking to start a taxi service with an accompanying app to help clients hail a cab locally, needed to understand what type of biz taxi service are, drove for 3 mos. Glad i did cause its too much variable cost with fuel and vehicle maintenance.

Ex. Recently i moved to a new state, needed a quick job that i could use to build a portfolio and understand what the local small business market of clients were like to work with, so i got a basic copy shop job so i could build connections and design marketing/biz cards/ understand the local business community needs. And also so i wouldn't starve due to lack of referral funnel cause im new to town.

In the state of NM lots of jobs are filled based on personal connections vs skill and educational background. On top of having a hard time finding work in my field, my bank acct is getting smaller and it feels like employers are avoiding me despite one of the most beautifully formatted resume and impressive design skill set. Sometimes it honestly feels like because im not a female or minority they are not gonna consider me for the position.

I would also say that HR staff are not very well trained and hire based on "instincts" and politics just because they have little accountability.

*there is a HUGE push for more women and minorities to hold "tech" jobs it is literally a thing that is everywhere in the news, local publications, and state/city initiates im not just throwing it out randomly.
