Accessibility Isn't Easy: What 'Easy Mode' Debates Miss About Bringing Games to Everyone

This is pretty flawed logic... The whole point of difficulty scaling is to make the game as challenging as intended for every skill level - meaning someone that isn't as skilled would be able to find a difficulty setting that made the game as relatively difficult as someone that was good at the game.

If player A at 100% skill capacity played the game at 100% difficulty compared how the game felt to someone with 30% skill capacity playing the game at 30% difficulty, it should be roughly equal in perceptible difficulty. The problem with Souls games is that it forces its concept of difficulty on every player regardless of skill level and thus makes the game strictly inaccessible for a large percentage of the playerbase - this is flawed design in a strictly economic sense.
