Accessing website data over the network that isn't otherwise exposed/visible on the website: is it illegal?

Thanks for the response. Apologies if my explanation was poor. I'll elaborate.

The data in question is not secure. It's coming from an open endpoint with no credentials required. I can do a `fetch` call against it and see exactly the data as if i were browsing the page, plus a lot of extra data that is clearly not displayed on the website, but is still very interesting data regardless.

My question is less about "is it ok that im seeing this data?" and more "what happens if someone were to take this data / use it / post it online?" For instance, if they see that someone posted it online, can they pursue the individual legally?

Keep in mind, i'm saying that im doing a whole database dump to get this stuff. rather, just taking some data here and some data there.

So, for legal reasons, i just want to know how this actually looks. My current knowledge took me at least as far as googling a few things related to intellectual property and possibly unauthorized access of a computer system as ways this could be framed as some type of illegal act, but again, no lawyer here, so that's why i ask. :)

Again thanks for the response. I hope this clears it up!
