According to the Bible, people who've never been exposed to Jesus have a free ticket to heaven. So then why do missionaries travel to remote parts of the world where Jesus is an unknown and condemn the people to hell?

I look at it this way: (For the TL:DR got to the end)

What I believe?

Since I’ve been exposed and convicted by the Holy Spirit, the only path for me is through Jesus.

We are all fallen and imperfect. I am no better than, and certainly worse than many non-believers.

The Bible is full of wonderful, horrible, uplifting and depressing messages. It needs to be read with the filter of who wrote what book, what was the context at the time, the variances in translation and how/if it applies to a current situation.

(I never quote the Bible to a non believer. Why use a reference that someone thinks is fiction? Might as well be quoting Obi Won. Never say, “the Bible says.”)

What I hope?

I have hope in God’s grace. A pastor explained this to me years ago. God is the ultimate power and can decide to admit whoever he pleases into heaven, regardless of their belief.

The certainly applies to the unexposed, the unchurched, infants, etc. I hope his grace extends to many more including believers, other faiths and atheists. I hope all are admitted into heaven regardless and exposed and redeemed by God’s grace.

What I know?

Nothing.
