yeah, i had a similiar story as OP and yeah all those fake friends are definitely assholes but seeing their posts, being envious/dissappointed in myself and where I'm at in life and really wanting what they have going on, I tried to subconciously imitate them I guess and saw myself growing into the asshole that they were.

Got rid of facebook as well as that whole mindset because that shit was toxic. But i still doubt myself in that I think that all these attractive, successful, vacationing, making good money and confident people all seem to be assholes and I still want to have a life like theirs or at least the type of stuff I see them doing.
