Activists install crosswalks. The city removes them. Allegedly they do this so you know that your safety isn't a priority for them.

Genuine question, Couldn’t this be potentially dangerous? If the cross walks aren’t accompanied by some kind of a stop or yield sign it could be difficult for cars to slow down in time, especially if the speed limit is too high or during poor weather or at night when a pedestrian might be difficult to see. Stop signs are reflective and can be lit up by head lights, and all of the pedestrian yield signs in my town have flashing yellow lights on faster streets.

I want walkable cities too but this activism seems careless. While it would be nice if the city added visible signs and lowered speed limits instead, I honestly think the quicker solution of washing away the paint could be saving lives here.
