We swing opinions because the story develops. It's not a trial in the court of law where both sides have to prepare all their evidence before the proceedings. It's social media and its nature of rapid dissemination. The story changes, and so our opinions do too. If you give me the whole story I can make up a side. But if it's segmented and full of responses and back to backs, with no notice when new evidence might show up, of course I'm gonna keep an open mind and switch opinions when I develop new insights. Why be so close minded...
Ex. The Pizza Debacle
Day 1: My brother accuses me of eating his 5 slices of leftover pizza.
Day 2: I say I didn't eat the pizza. Look at the weighing scale bro, I didn't gain weight. I lost weight actually. (I'm innocent as of now)
Day 5: My brother asked my dad to view the records for the CC camera installed by the kitchen
Day 6: Brother sees me eating the pizza
In Day 1 there was an accusation
In Day 2 I had weight loss. I was innocent. It was impossible I ate 5 slices of pizza (little did he know I walked at a pace of 140bpm for 8 hours burning 2,400 calories)
In Day 5 He remembers we have a security cam installed
In day 6 The whole story has developed, and I am the pizza thief.
Don't look at things in black and white. Admit if you've made a mistake. It's a sign you're open to improving.
