Actual quote: "you're basically telling someone that if they don't lose ten pounds because you gave them a Fitbit than they're a fat slob who hates you."

I saw this article on my google homepage last night, and it made me furious.

The person who mentions an item to another person with whom they are close enough to exchange gifts is ASKING for that thing. Meaning, they will not be insulted.

There are degrees of mentioning things, of course, but you should probably be able to suss out the nuances between, "Man, I'd like to get a fitbit so that it would maybe encourage me to move more" and "HAHA, maybe I should one a them fittybit things so I can quit being such a lardass!!"

The difference is subtle, but it's there.

Get people what they want and will use for the Holidays and don't overthink shit.
