I always feel so much insecurity about this when I compare my relationship with my mom to the people around me. It seems like everyone's mom is their "best friend". I can barely hold a conversation with my mom. I didn't talk to her for 2 years straight when I was younger. It's my cross to bear and I just hope I do better with my children.
You're not alone in this kind of thing. For every picture-perfect Randolph family there are so many that are NOT that way. Think of Dean's dad! That's the only relatable hometown date I've ever seen. Also, I feel like Cassie is dependent on her dad to a creepy/unhealthy extent, so it's not like they're perfect either.
