I know this may be really hard to believe because of certain echo chambers online, but trans rights aren’t the only human rights that matter and that are at stake in this country.

Fucking thank you. I’m for trans rights, but if the race comes down to “someone who doesn’t like trans people and may be pressured by the party to rein that in vs someone who is actively trying to fuck over nearly everyone up to and including trans people and is encouraged by the party to be worse,” you pick the one that’s going to fuck over less people. That’s basic harm reduction, any reasonable person who wants a better tomorrow is going to make that same call
