Adam Back said in 2015 that it would be reasonable to have BTC block size at 8mb in 2019. Will there be a block size increase this year?

Back doesn't control bitcoin but I would be curious to know what the main devs think about potential future block size increases.

Yep I feel the same. I just feel like there is a shroud of secrecy around BTC development. Would be nice to hear where the devs and big players like Adam Back (/u/adam3us) stand on this issue, and to get some kind of rudimentary road map for major projects.

Layer 2 solutions like lightning are absoluley necessary to scale the network.

I agree as well, but I'm not sure I support the Lightning model, where people have to prefund channels. It just seems unnecessary and overly complicated for someone who just wants to use BTC as electronic cash.

I think for BTC to reach its full potential, it needs to keep it simple by raising the block size to 8mb while also implementing second layer solutions. Most people will still be able to run a node at 8mb, which seemed to be the main argument against raising it.
