Adam Bandt proposes Labor-Green coalition for action on climate

I don't specifically know what the Greens environmental policies are, but Labor's short-lived Carbon Tax policy was excellent IMO and needs to be revisited (with some more up-to-date changes like a carbon dividend). Carbon Taxes certainly aren't the only move that needs to be done to fight climate change, but I think they're a great first step. I think they put you in a good position to (after a five or so years of trying it) assess where treating emmisions as a taxed negative-externality is proving effective, if tax amounts may need to be adjusted (e.g. the set carbon price is not causing a fast enough decrease), and if additional non-market based policies are needed for support. All up though, I strongly feel that even if it's not perfect or the ONLY neccesary environmental policy, a Carbon Tax is absolutely the centerpiece of a good climate approach. Companies already do insane shit and innovation to find ways to hire as few people as possible, turning emissions into just another similar upkeep cost would inspire the exact same drive to R&D all kinds of ways to lower the cost too imo.
