Adam and Drew Show Summary

Not to pile on, but Lynette told a great story related to this on For Crying Out Loud. She had been told so many times by Adam about the keys and the dog leash and other things that she turned the tables on him. She said that Adam constantly kicked off his shoes and left them lying in the middle of a hallway where she was always tripping over them. It's a small thing, but it really got on her nerves. How hard can it be to just push the shoes to the side after you take them off?

Lynette spoke to Adam about this and Adam agreed: "Done and done!" kind of thing. As he says, you only have to tell him something once. If it's logical and it makes sense, it's done. Two days later and every day therafter, where were the shoes? In the middle of the hallway.

On a related note, on a recent episode of For Crying Out Loud, Lynette told one of the funniest stories I've ever heard. It involved the new Tesla that she and Adam had just leased for her. The Tesla doesn't use a traditional key that you stick into the ignition and turn. It uses some kind of electronic doodad. It just has to be somewhere near the car and then the car will start.

Well, Sonny and Natalia insisted on riding in the two rear-facing seats in the back hatch. While strapping them into the complicated 5-point harness on those seats, Lynette dropped the electronic doodad and it vanished down into some area underneath the seats. However, Lynette didn't notice that she'd dropped them. So now Lynette was in the very strange position of being able to start the car yet having NO IDEA where the doodad (the "keys") were. She knew the keys were somewhere on her person or somewhere in the car. They had to be, or she wouldn't be able to start the car. But she had no idea exactly where the keys were.

The story went on and on with Sonny being unable to get himself out of his 5-point seat harness, Natalia freeing herself but then getting stuck as she tried to climb out of the back seats and into the front of the car. Lynette couldn't help them because without the keys, she couldn't open the back hatch. Meanwhile, she was frantically punching through all the control screens on the car's computer screen trying to find the controls for the rear hatch. All this while the kids are crying and she's late for a meeting with the school's principal, teachers, and a therapist.

In the end, Lynette freed Natalia, and Sonny figured out how to open the rear hatch. But now Lynette had no choice but to walk away from the brand new Tesla with the keys hidden somewhere inside it. With the keys inside the car, anyone could just jump into it and drive away.

I kept thinking about how these new electronic keys for the Tesla were going to impact Adam's life and how long it would take before we started hearing about Tesla adventures on the Adam Carolla Show. My guess is that it won't take long. It sounded like Lynette wanted nothing to do with the Tesla. She was often faced with having to drive around large groups of kids and parents, so she wanted a sensible mini-van. But Adam talked her into the Tesla, saying that the two rear-facing seats actually meant the car seated 7. But as Lynette quickly found out, though it seats 7, it doesn't do it in a very convenient or comfortable way. I''m now looking forward to lots of great Tesla stories.
