Add A Few More Zeroes To It!

Saw some docu film recently - for the life of me, can't remember what, but it wouldn't have been obscure, as I'm super lazy about things these days - a journalist spent a year calling every name in his black book, apparently. No big revealing article (that I've seen. Yet?) but the scuttlebutt (unconfirmed, of course) is:

It's more Maxwell's book of contacts, not his. He was an idiot - as in, known to many people in his circle be legit kinda dumb (but could still make you money, somehow), not really well liked by most, (but usually not exactly hated), for sure made his money doing shady and probably outright illegal things, and Maxwell's connections were super helpful in keeping his shady dealings running, and that's what the schmoozing and black book were about.

It's likely most (but not all) of the people he knew weren't involved in the sex stuff; he didn't have a great deal of trust, so he isn't likely to have invited many into that part of his world. It's how they got away with it as long as they did, as openly as they did; because they were using the girls to recruit other girls, so they didn't involve others; meaning, no loose threads, no unpredictable people. So, "everybody knew he liked them young", and many people WERE concerned for years, but because no one knew who they were or how old they actually were, they're thinking "Well, I can't just call Palm Beach PD and say "I don't know, she didn't say anything to me, I don't know her name, I've never seen her before, or since, but she just doesn't look 18. I don't have anything else. I don't know anyone who knows anything else. My name? Uh ..... Never mind....."

(Not absolving anyone of anything - can't fathom how anyone can live with themselves - but I get how it happens, I guess.)

Do I buy it? After considering it for a while and after hearing testimony from victims, I think I do. It was a brilliant, demented, pyramid scheme.

I definitely don't think EVERYBODY in that black book is innocent, though - Prince Andrew sure isn't, and like minds will seek each other out - but I think those that aren't will have evidence aplenty, elsewhere. We don't need Epstein's evidence - we just need people to speak up, stop covering for them, and do their jobs, frankly.

PS - also, going after those who cover for these guys AFTER the fact. Failure to prosecute a case should be subject to greater penalty, at least.
