Additional 787,000 workers seek unemployment as layoffs continue amid COVID-19 crisis

I’ve heard this many times and the short answer is not really.

Massive quarantines to stop the spread of the Wuhan / COVID-19 virus are what caused this massive change. IMO, the maneuvers taken were too late as the virus most likely hit the US in 2019. Whether is started earlier or later, it was practically inevitable for many businesses to survive. Many were barely making it by on thin margins anyway and died off for that reason. People are afraid, staying safe, and businesses, such as restaurants, are also dying off with the loss of income and high rents.

I’m thankful that many have adapted to outdoor dining and other tactics to stay afloat but the constant back and forth for reopening the economy is eventually going to severely cripple, or finish off, many businesses over time. This leads back to the state Govenor’s and additional incentives for the most damage tallied through Federal relief funds.
