if you're talking about 5-4 as a whole, it's a great place to rank, with the bonus of naturally gaining levels for pretty much any type ship. only real downside is requiring fast ships, but you can always speed boost them.

Other 4 ships are up to you. Base exp per node is 420 and you go through 3 nodes, so you gain quite a bit of exp per run at higher cost in rsc. But keep in mind, people run 5-4 primarily for ranking. 3-2a is by far safer on the rsc due to sub tank (5-4A alone can also subtank, but has a comp with enemy CA that ignores the sub tank, resulting in more damage).
