Adults be needing therapy and instead they have kids

I was thinking about this exact thing the other day. How it seems like so many people with unresolved trauma always seem to make the horrible choice of breeding before they’ve worked on themselves. One of the people I had in mind when thinking about this was a “friend” who legit said to me “I don’t need a psychiatrist, my friends are my psychiatrists” then proceeded to have two children in 2019 and 2020 back to back.

I told her to see a psych about her issues, because every convo we had was dominated by her and the messed up things she had gone through in the past and it was getting so bad it started to impact my mental health in the end, despite none of the things she spoke about actually happening to me.

Of course, she took the therapy suggestion as an insult and i haven’t really spoken to her since then because of how draining she had become. Literally the entire friendship revolved her. As a child of two similarly troubled people who never, ever should have had my siblings and I, I think I can confidently say that breeding isn’t a good way to compensate for therapy. Just suck it up and pay for the sessions. It’s worth it.
