Adults of reddit, what is something every teenager needs to know?

Right now you are creating what is often referred to in Human Development as your "First World View". In other words, it is the first time you craft an overall concept of how the world works.

A common mistake when these are crafted is to leave no room for change. Your First World View is going to have a lot of black and whites, and the world is full of greys that you can easily ignore.

Let me give you an example. Some major event happens, that is reported by both two news companies. One company has a heavy liberal bias, while the other has a heavy conservative bias. Both news companies report facts, but both only focus on the bits that reinforce their political views in the most favorable light.

You can say each news company can represent a First World View. This is done on purpose, to try and entrench your thoughts into their view, and train you to ignore nuance.
