Advanced Warfare: The COD Game That Could Have Been So Much More

I'm more casual than competitive but like to read stuff here and this post was so compelling I thought I'd reply.

I honestly think BOII might be one of my favorite CoD games. I crapped on Ghosts when it came out but I did end up playing it a lot. I like a lot of people on this post haven't picked up the game in about a month.

I don't know what is wrong with the game. On paper it seems to have all the right things. Looking at it being played live there is nothing wrong with the graphics. It would be nice to have some more peacocking in the game. I loved running around in an astronaut suit in Ghosts and my friends would get some laughs out of that. Emblems were sadly one of the best part of the previous games for me. We'd take pictures and share them with each other. Some of them were pretty ridiculous.

The weapons seem okay but it feels less customizable than the previous two games. It seems that there is a narrower metagame in AW and people are running around with the same few classes.

I don't know if it's the exos. They are annoying for me to deal with personally but I also get kills by jumping around like a madman. I guess it seems like a real cheap mechanic especially with normal gravity. I think with double-jump games like Halo and to an extent Destiny the players are more floaty which even up things a bit. I think the addition of parkour similar to Titanfall in the next game will be a positive addition.

Here's something to consider. Maybe they've realized this game is a lost cause and there's no point dumping resources into it. Perhaps their efforts are best dedicated elsewhere since they're near the end of a cycle.

Also sales are down year-over-year. I am not sure if they are going to reverse that trend (they have had ups-and-downs with their sales figures in the past) but maybe to hit their profit targets they have to do things like make RNG a bigger part of the game and get people to spend more on microtransactions. Perhaps that's what they've felt is the way to squeeze profit out of this game. If so I'm not looking forward to the future of CoD.
