The Adventure Zone: Live Candlelights 2018 Spectacular | Discussion Thread

Just a few minutes in, and Justin is 2 for 2 on unprompted and uncomfortable declarations of how very not vegetarian he is (the other being on the latest MBMBaM). I don’t know why that particular demographic is a sticking point for him. I’m just trying to have a good time listening and suddenly I’m taken out of experience to hear someone I admire describe the lifestyle as shitty and he’d never live that way. Like... okay? Cool? Even before I stopped eating meat I would never go around and tell other people their lifestyle isn’t appealing and their food is shit. Dunno why this is even a thing.

Reminds me of that one live show a while back where an audience member was describing someone she knew who was a garbage person, and capped of with “...and he’s a vegetarian” as the final nail in the coffin for his character. Followed by a chorus of boos and from the audience, of course. (Kinda seems like defensive moral insecurity to me, folks, not gonna lie.) More importantly, you know there are like, several massive cultural and religious groups consisting of millions of people that don’t partake of meat. Does it really jive with the ethos of the show that this has become an intermittent target for the community’s derision?

You can believe what you want, I just don’t get this weird urge to diss people for their lifestyle choices that don’t affect you. I struggle to think of any reason to other than carelessness or insecurity. Just trying to have a nice time listening to my favorite podcasts here, can’t we just chill?
