advice for aggressive dogs first meeting?

Thank you so much. I'm trying so hard with her and me and my mother have done everything we've learned from our previous bullys to help her become less scared. We take her out at antisocial hours at the moment anyway to avoid her contact with other dogs and although we were intending to get two dogs prior to meeting her we've since decided to become a single dog household permanently to help her feel safe. I know that a lot of people think that we shouldn't have her as we can't afford a professional trainer, but giving her up is not an option and her chances of adoption are low because of her issues. We knew we needed to start working on her behaviour immediately as we've began noticing that even at the antisocial hours we walk her we encounter many off lead dogs and it's becoming a concern that avoiding contact is not feasible. We were intending to start as soon as possible to help avoid issues in the long run, but after reading your advice we both agree we weren't thinking rationally and need to wait for a few more months. I'm so grateful for your advice and we intend to use it.
