Advice from parents whose children have been molested / sexually assaulted ?

This happened to my daughter a couple of years back, (8yro). She advised me of what had been happening on our way to urgent care for what we thought was vaginosis, from there we were referred to a forensic doctor at a specialized hospital. I got back home at midnight, so first thing in the morning I called DHS and the Police to get the ball rolling. My 8yro went through a forensic interview months after the event. (we advised her of it was a special place and that they would ask hard questions, and told her to do her best and be honest and truthful). I pray your situation they take more seriously than mine. DHS said they couldn't differentiate it from vaginosis that only occurred at the offender's home. the DA refused to press charges because the offender used her hand rather than an instrument or object, and it would be hard to get a solid criminal conviction. So, rather than trying the case, they said "no thanks." From DHS's ruling of unsubstantiated (they couldn't prove it, not that it didn't happen.), I took it up the chain all the way to the district county director. She reopened the case and reviewed everything and found lots of missteps from our DHS worker (not interviewing witnesses, taking bias) and the director couldn't find enough to prove it substantiated but wanted to make sure a judge saw the case. We've had a few emergency hearings and offender access has been restricted, but it's set to go to trial again soon.

(Sorry in advance for the grammar, but falling asleep at the keyboard will review it in the AM.)
