Advice on long distance relationships in the Navy?

If you see yourselves getting married and she plans on doing several years in the service, just make sure you get a skill/degree that can be utilized anywhere. Nursing, teaching, law enforcement, etc. If you don’t have a career that can be easily transferred to the other side of the U.S (even possibly the world), you’ll be resentful watching her career soar while you’re working minimum wage jobs because you can’t find a job at her location, which can cause serious relationship problems.

Find a hobby. Make friends that you can rely on. Remember she’s transitioning into a completely new lifestyle/job and it’s going to be 10X harder on her than it is for you. Just stay mindful of her feelings and don’t get upset if she can’t talk to you 24/7. She’s going to be on a strict schedule for the next several months through training and her time isn’t even her own right now.
