After going to r/metal and r/punk, what genre is metalcore?

Interesting, I won't try to claim my knowledge is that extensive. I only can try to explain and offer opinion from what I hear. I can't stress the word opinion enough. No b.s. though I do listen to a ton of metal. I will say that I do find difficulty separating and determining specifically what genre a certain band is. I'll take Dr. Acula as an example, some say grindcore some say deathcore I really can't make the determination for myself due to what I see as blurred lines. What I meant by the labeling comment is that I guess I don't fully understand the need to sub genre every genre as a whole. Personally I boast a very large music collection from all genres and I organize by the most general sense of each genre. Pop, Rap, Rock, Punk, Metal, Techno, and Niche (Comedy, Foreign Language, etc.) Forgive me if I sound idiotic to some, I really enjoy listening to and discussing music but perhaps I am wrong altogether, I really don't know. I mean I have the likes of Metallica, Children of Bodom, Devildriver, Cradle of Filth, Amon Amarth, Iron Maiden, Dragonforce, Wage War, InVisions, In Flames, Chelsea Grin, Emmure, The Haunted, Alestorm, Slipknot among many many others all under the same "metal" folder on my hard drive so I guess maybe I have no idea what the hell I'm talking about. Just offering my input justified or not, and while I don't listen exclusively to metalcore I would consider myself like at least 80% metalhead.
