After hearing this quote in an interview, I have wondered if there is some unknown chunk of the transgender community, that knows this statement to be true.... "If you mandate acceptance, you foment hatred." -J Peterson

What is with this constant rhetoric that everything is okay because you probably won't get jailed. It's bad enough that you have to pay a fine

No, for the hate crime section you won't get jailed, told to pay a fine, anything. No one ever gets punished under these statutes at all because you'd have to actively call for genocide against trans people for these laws to be used.

and might go up to a human rights tribunal.

The OHRC/T are a separate law from that (from my understanding of the issue) and deal with workplace/academic discrimination, and again, currently:

  • You can't intentionally keep calling a male a "she"
  • But you can keep intentionally calling someone nonbinary a "she"

These are the same situation, but in the second one, the minority group isn't being protected. That's what the OHRC is amending.

The issue is that this legislation is just the formal step of ideologies and leftist dogma that have been long propagated without proper scrutiny.

Just cut the crap and go for Peterson's "it's literally marxism pushing all of these human rights".

Its high time these issues are discussed before we automatically assume they're right in any shape or form. The issue is that we can't discuss these issues on campus anymore because it's taboo. People are afraid to represent the other side even if it is to play devil's advocate.

What issue? That Gender Identity & Expression are to be protected the same way all other protected groups are? Because it's definitely not a legal issue - you guys aren't listening to some random Psychology professor on a law he probably has no idea how to interpret, while no lawyers or legal groups are raising objections against it, right? Because we go to university to listen to the experts, not to ignore them and listen to the demagogues who call out the newest human rights amendments as something being pushed by le sjw marxists.
