The patriarchy isn't something which empowers all men at the expense of women. It's a system of competition between men where the most powerful control a disproportionate share of everything. Powerful men run the world and this means men are expected to compete to get to the top of this heap, which disadvantages men, and it leaves women out of the running entirely, or at least has done until very recently. So yes it is idiot men disempowering themselves. "The game is rigged, which is what's gonna make it so sweet when I win this thing." Things like men not being able to see their kids come from the patriarchy. The disposable male comes from the patriarchy. The idea that masculinity is associated with violence and competition is the way men can gain glory and success in the patriarchy, by taking greater risks. The idea that women are naturally better child-care providers fits with this as well.

Sure I care about the suffering of men. I'm a man. It's just I think women are the most disadvantaged, and it's the cultural subjugation of women which makes things worse for everybody. Women are directly disadvantaged by this but men are disadvantaged because of the rigidity of the social structure we exist in and the need to compete with other men and conform to roles which may or may not suit us.

Men are statistically more likely to be the victims of violence but also much more likely to be the perpetrators. Most of it is man on man violence. Most violence against men is perpetrated by men. But most violence against women is also perpetrated by men. Human trafficking, domestic violence, murder by an intimate partner, gendercide in China, gang rape in India, acid attacks in the Middle East, honour killings, forced marriage, stoning to death for adulterous women. It's not a good world for women, statistically.
