ATLA is godtier that’s for sure. But the thing I liked about Korra is how ATLA superpowers were humanizes. Aang, the greatest Avatar in recent history, was shown as a somewhat “bad” father. Toph, the greatest earth bender there is, has a worst family dynamics than Aang. The Firenation’s important roles are: 1. The Fire sages saving Korra 2. Zuko stopping the red lotus 3. Izumi saying no to the war.

Korra’s villains are not villains for the sake of being evil. Toph said it greatly, they have good intentions but took their ideologies to the extreme. Even Korra had an 8% approval rating despite being the most powerful being in the world.
