A mother of three can absolutely be Chief of Surgery and an excellent mother; to assume other is incredibly sexist on a show that shows the limitless potential on a woman’s ability. Ellis would have risen to Chief inspite of being a mother; Mer will rise because she’s a mother. Adopting Zola was what sparked the massive changes in her. I agree she has already beaten her mother in that she’s accomplished everything Ellis had without sacrificing motherhood. Getting Chief puts her above her mother accomplishments, and therefore takes her out of her shadow.

As for little miss Maggie. I love her. But if I’m expected to believe someone as smart and initiative as her didn’t realize disclosing she’s Ellis and Richard’s love child on a taped interview would boost her profile exponentially, I don’t. Then, after she saw how much it hurt Richard, she went on show after show to keep discussing it. Now, she has 2-3 research projects going. Anyone else smell Award hunger? Maggie was very immature at the beginning. Immature can come across as sweet and nice, but it isn’t. She’s grown, and her edges are sharpening.
