In my younger days, I read some psych articles on accomplishment, getting things done, goal setting and winning.
A year ago or so, I made a comment on here that got Poo Poo'd and ridiculed by some of you because you think you are God's gift to Frogmen. Good on you but I assure you that most of you think you know more that you really know. That is fine but humility is a good thing and can be the start of deep learning and full understanding.
Things were a lot different back when I joined the Navy. All my mentors were Vietnam Veterans who got into the stink with Levis and a Stoner. So many of these guys lived the Warrior's dream of shooting and looting.
There were no SO/SB/EOD or DV ratings. You had to have one of 20 source ratings to work in the Teams. No need for a Draftsman, Nuclear Machinist Mate or Guided Missle Technician. But, a Gunner's Mate, Radioman, or Parachute Rigger was useful for Operating in a war zone.
So, I had a long haul with a long wait to join the Navy, a long A school and a delay at a new duty station before I could get my orders to BUD/S.
