AI may replace today's jobs, but imagine a teacher for every student and no lines for the doctor

Doesn’t feel like the wealth will be something the average person will see no matter how advanced we get as a civilization.

That perception is hard to get around. Automation has made all kinds of products cheaper and higher quality, but then that becomes the "new normal" and doesn't feel like it counts, or matters. And people viscerally resist you counting that lower price as increased wealth.

The advantages are spread throughout the population (lower prices for everyone), whereas the disadvantages are concentrated in those specific people who lost their jobs. People with faces and names and stories, personalized tragedies to which we can relate.
