AirBnB owner can't remove woman due to California's 30-day squatter's rights

When the law was created was it meant for this type of situation? Was this the spirit of the law?

To be clear, the law here isn't "squatters rights." Squatters rights refers to maintaining residency in a home (including paying property taxes) for a period of over 5 years.

This has to do with eviction law. If we're getting into "my opinion" territory, this is exactly the spirit of the law. The law is pretty cut and dry - in every state once you live at a place for 30 or more continuous days, you are no longer a "guest", you are a "tenant." Once you establish tenancy, the law considers that your primary residence - regardless if its' an AirBNB or a hotel or a home you mortgage - and that you must be given an eviction notice and 30-90 days (depending on the state) to leave.

This is the risk you undertake when you allow people to become tenants on your property.
